While the DeepDriver piling hammer is optimized for deep water applications with the limited but adequate power supplied from a typical work-class ROV, it will also compete favorably in shallower water applications due to the smaller equipment spread required as well as the ability to be deployed on smaller, less expensive vessels.

The DeepDriver pile driver is hydraulically powered with an “open” construction design that allows a largely depth-independent operation.  Its interface with the pile is adaptable to the particulars of the pile, and the stroke of the hammer is adjustable by the ROV operator to allow reducing the impacts during the initial driving phase.  A 60 kilo Joule (44 ft-kip) impact energy device is planned for the demonstration unit to be tested offshore in 2014.  U.S. patent has issued (8,033,756) and International patents are pending.
